Parkgate Bank
The Parkgate Bank is our very own school service which allows children to be rewarded by our schools' very own currency!
Years 4 to 6 see the transition from traditional ‘Housepoint Stickers’ to ‘House-Point Tokens’, which are also known as ‘PARC Tokens’. (PARC - Pride, Resilience, aspiration and Pride)
Children throughout school are rewarded HOUSE POINTS / PARCs for the following:
• good work rate in class
• good effort
• positive attitude to learning
• achieving personal targets
• being able to self-regulate
• positive contributions in class
• up-holding the ‘Rights’
• making good progress
• home-learning
• out of school achievements
• citizenship
• meeting deadlines………………to name just a few!
Once children receive their PARCs, they have a scheduled time to visit the Bank and put coins into their personal account. Our House Wellbeing Champions monitor the bank alongside senior leaders. They sit behind the computer and add the children's PARCs onto an Excel spreadsheet. The bank teaches children about responsibility and the importance of saving money. The bank teaches them about the value of money and demonstrates that hard work is rewarded.
The Vault opens every term, meaning the children can use their PARCs to buy something from the shop or save them for bigger items. There are a selection of things sold in the shop including:
- pencils
- rubbers
- bouncy balls
- torches
- note pads
However, children can also use their PARCs to receive a ticket for things such as:
- Free hot chocolate and cake
- Lunch with a teacher and friend
- Free book
- Lunchtime Treat
- Cinema Experience
- An extra school trip
