Transforming Reading Project
The Transforming Reading Project aims to improve the knowledge and skills of the whole school staff to teach reading more effectively, leading to improved pupil outcomes. In addition, the project aims to support the Head teacher and the school’s leadership to lead improvements in teaching, create a rich, engaging reading curriculum and develop the whole school systems required to sustain improvements. The project will explore what other successful schools have done as well as looking closely at what key research tells us is effective practice.
The project will provide training and support for the Transforming Reading Project team at Parkgate with input from Dean Thompson, a ‘Talk 4 Writing’ specialist.
Key elements of the Transforming Reading Project:
- Developing Reading for Pleasure
- Shared Reading
- Guided into Independent Reading
- Reading Across the Curriculum
